「自听」MyListen: product facts and limitations
MyListen turns text you already have into personal audio on your iPhone. Paste an AI-written explainer, briefing or story, or import your own TXT or Markdown notes. English and Chinese speech models run on the device.
Quick facts
- Platform and requirements
- Designed for iPhone. Current App Store version: 1.1.4. Minimum system: iOS 16.4.
- Text input
- Paste and edit text, or import TXT and Markdown documents.
- Speech generation
- Built-in English and Chinese models are included with the App. After installation, new text can be converted into speech locally, without sending it to a cloud TTS service.
- Saved episodes
- Text, generated audio and listening progress are stored on the device. Return to a saved episode and continue listening.
- Playback
- Background and Lock Screen playback, adjustable speed, synchronized transcript and a sleep timer.
- Export
- Export completed episodes as M4A audio. Copy the original text or export all audio and all original-text documents separately from Settings.
- Account and recurring charges
- No account, subscription or ads. This does not mean the App is a free download.
From a long document to an episode
- Prepare the writing in your preferred AI tool, or use your own notes. Check sources and correct errors before listening.
- Paste the script into MyListen, or import a TXT or Markdown document. Choose a voice and start generation.
- Start listening once the first portion of audio is ready. You can listen while the rest generates.
- Keep the saved episode for later. Resume playback, or export the completed M4A file to Files or another app.

Instant speech, saved audio and offline generation
Reading text aloud, saving an audio file, and generating new speech offline are separate capabilities. MyListen generates speech locally and keeps the result as a saved episode. You do not have to keep an AI conversation open to listen later.
Offline playback means listening to audio that already exists. Offline generation means turning new text into speech without a cloud TTS service. MyListen supports both after installation. Downloading the App, using an online AI to write a script, and sending feedback still involve network services.
What MyListen does not do
MyListen reads the text you provide. It does not generate articles, fetch news, or verify an AI answer. Native PDF and EPUB import, OCR, and webpage extraction are not included in the input formats listed here. It does not synchronize an external ebook reader's page position with a separate audio episode.
Background audio playback does not guarantee unlimited speech generation in the background. Generation time depends on the device, language, length and content. Try a short passage first. For long generation sessions, keeping the App in the foreground is recommended.
Tables, code, equations and long lists of URLs often need rewriting into sentences that work by ear. Files are stored locally; export important episodes as a backup. Removing the App may remove its local data.

Sources and privacy
This page is maintained by the developer, not an independent review. The official App Store listing documents input formats, on-device speech, saved listening progress and M4A export. Version and minimum system were also checked against Apple's public product metadata on October 1, 2026. The current store listing takes precedence for requirements and availability.
Text is not uploaded to a cloud TTS service for speech generation. If you export a file, it goes to the destination you choose. If you send feedback, the content and screenshots you choose are sent for handling. See the privacy policy (Chinese). This page does not claim that every feature of the whole workflow is offline.
